Does Good Exist In Cathy?

okay guys,
so i've been hearing bits and pieces of discussions about Cathy, that mysterious half-beast half-human character in East of Eden. What i want to know is... does good exist in her? Sorry Austin i know you haven't finished the book.......so finish QUICKLY cuz i really want to know what u think about this, and you really can't answer that question till the end of the book. She really was a mystery to me thoughout the entire book. I kept thinking, "does she have no conscience? why is she doing all of these horrible things"? Then the whole thing comes up about Steinback describing her as a beast and not human at all. That's what the posts have been about lately. ne-ways, just some thoughts, give me your opinions. ill talk to u all later!- Michael J. Roome #7

hahah no u mook she basically doesnt have a soul. steinback had some serious issues with women.. either his mother didnt love him enough as a child or hes been dumped one too many times... >.> anyways steinback doesnt seem to portray women in a good light. if they are theyre somewhat bland like that one girl in grapes of wrath sharon of rose or whatever.. he loves to focus on men.. all of the protagonists are men.. hmmm like i said before mike she doesnt have a soul. steinback describes her as an animal because of her lack of a soul. this attribute causes her to act without a conscience or moral. she is an animal and she does what she wants.. tho it seems like she feels some regret/pain when she thinks of aron.. again maybe just speculation. perhaps this is a spark of good. perhaps. but anyways cathy is evil and is good at what she does. good enough for u michael mook?

OHHHHHHHHHHHH JESUSSSSSSSSSS FINALLY!!!!!FIGURED OUT HOW TO POST HERE...OH MY GOD...NO...ACTUALLY JUST A COMMENT.
W.E...so...mike...what i think is...in the novel steinbeck does describe her in an extremely bad way just to show the contrast between the good and evil. I guess, because seriously, it does seem like she doesn't have conscience and all that, but deep inside she's just a human. we all have good and bad sides you know... there is no ABSOLUTE whatsoever i assume...hm and like tim said..that pain and regret that she felt when she thought of aron reflects her good side but that is just a trivial and a minimum attribute ah meu sei la...but isn't it strange? even though cathy is all eveil and bad stuff...i can sense her goodness...i donno how to explain..but, i just can...it's like eating korean food...it stinks but i know it could be my favorite menu^^ so yeah flwzzz
and carp...i love you...i still donno how this thing works....T.T
